The U.S. Coral Reef Conservation Act is currently awaiting reauthorization in Congress. On April 22, 2009, the House Committee on Natural Resources marked-up the House version of this legislation (H.R. 860). However the Senate version currently languishing and needs your support.

Please contact your Senate representation and ask them to make passage of corals legislation a priority in the 111th Congress.

The Act currently authorizes grants for coral reef conservation activities. New provisions in the reauthorization increase the status of protection for corals, support community-based approaches to coral reef stewardship, strengthen U.S. international coral reef conservation efforts, and authorize increased funding to protect these threatened habitats.
