PADI SCUBA Specialty Certifications
Becoming certified to dive safely introduces you to the exciting world of scuba diving. You can increase your knowledge of the underwater environment and develop additional scuba diving skills through enrolling in PADI specialty certification courses. Scuba Miami is pleased to offer a wide variety of specialty courses to meet everyone's interests.
PADI Underwater Naturalist Program (1 day- 2 dives) Aside from just becoming certified to dive, why not learn exactly what it is you are seeing down there. The PADI Underwater Naturalist Course teaches you how to identify local marine life and examine the interrelationship between living things and their environment. Learn how to interact with aquatic life in a safe and responsible manner. This course includes scuba gear, and two UW Naturalist boat dives with an instructor. Taking this class will make future dives much more rewarding!
PADI Underwater Photo Specialty Course (1 day- 2 dives) Learn how to take underwater photographs like a pro using a top of the line underwater camera. You will develop the skills needed to capture stunning underwater images, learning valuable photography basics and tips on how to approach and photograph aquatic life. This course includes scuba gear, two boat dives with an instructor, a camera, two rolls of film, film processing and a final session to review and critique the results. Skills learned in this course will help you take better photographs on land as well!
Deep Diver Specialty Course (2 days- 4 dives) This course covers the proper planning, procedures and techniques needed to safely conduct deep dives.Review the Recreational Dive Planner (dive tables), learn to make proper safety stops and discuss emergency decompression procedures, buoyancy considerations, nitrogen narcosis, and more. This course includes scuba gear and four deep boat dives up to 130 ft. with an instructor.
PADI Night Diver Specialty Course (2 days- 3 dives) Night diving allows divers to witness the many interesting and exciting nocturnal marine creatures that remain hidden during the day. You're likely to see lobsters, octopus, sleeping fish, basket starfish and beautiful coral polyps- fully extended and feeding. This course teaches the student how to night dive properly and safely, stressing navigation, dive light maintenance and usage, special signals and more. The course includes scuba gear, use of a dive light, and three night dives with an instructor (2 boat- 1beach).
PADI Equipment Repair Course (1 or 2 days- classroom only) Examine the operation and working principles of scuba diving equipment. Discuss the maintenance of your personal gear and learn about new and "cutting edge" equipment. Tanks, regulators and buoyancy compensators are discussed in detail. This course is designed as an introduction and while detailed, does not authorize the student to service his/her own equipment
PADI Wreck Diver Specialty (2 days- 4 dives) South Florida has the most successful and extensive artificial reef program in the world. Shipwrecks and intentionally sunken structures create spectacular habitats for fish of all sizes. Great Barracuda, tarpon, cobia, and schools of snappers and grunts are common sites on Miami wreck dives. This course examines the principles of safe wreck diving including preparing penetration lines, wreck entry, air considerations and special buoyancy considerations. Scuba gear and four wreck dives with an instructor are included.
